  • trying to auth email addresses

    Hi!
in my journey of getting rid of users who spam my forum ive decided to build something that will make the users enter the ISP email while registring.
the problem is i dont know wether to use substr() or strpos().

what function should i choose please?

If you use substr(), you would have to run another function on that string to determine it. Not so with strpos().

Be aware that this method isn't 100% safe. My ISP is T-Online and we get @t-online.de addresses, however all hostmasks from this ISP end in t-dialin.net .

strpos() is much faster, because all you do is check whether some string is in another string. Even the php.net manual says so .
