  • Firebird becomes Firefox - 0.8 Released

With the latest Firebird 0.8 release comes a name change - Firebird will now be called Firefox.. Strange.. This might hurt popularity a little considering that, everywhere else, Firebird is known as Firebird. Firefox 0.8 comes with a new downloads manager and a new extension installer.

It has to be renamed because there's another open source project called "firebird"

Funny how Firebird crashed when I clicked to read this thread.

Well, looks like too many people are trying to download the new version right now... the FTP server keeps timing out. Kind of weird they don't provide at least a couple of mirrors.

I thought it would be a permanent association with Thunderbird but, I guess the bird wasn't as popular as this Fox. Maybe the "final" release will be a tutle...
