It must have been posted in the last few hours...several trips to Windows Update today didn't show anything new.

Nothing new!?!?! Isn't there something new there about every 5 minutes. I just re-formated a machine the other day, and when I went to the updates, there were over 60 updates, 44 which were critical!!!

No, that is within the last month or so. I have to reformat machines pretty frequently, and there were not that many a short time ago!

Well, this is the first patch MS in over a month; so you are mistaken.

The number of updates varies on the order you install them. For example, installing SP1 renders many of them useless.

The last full reinstalls and updates I had to do was back with all that stuff right after the Blaster worm, so I'm sorry, that was about 2 months ago, and there was less than 30 MB to download. A clean install now has over 64 MB of updates!
And yes, you are correct filburt, apparently some of them have others rolled into them so it does cut down on some, so it really depends on what order you install.

Updated, and my htaccess logins seem to be fine.

                      Strange.

                        Did you restart?

I rebooted and checked, .htaccess still works on all my sites.
htaccess tends to be reset, if the file is changed.
