Not such a big fan of "Auto-complete" coding. I find it tends to get in the way and slow me down. Plus it usually locks you into a specific set of languages.

I have pretty much done everything I need to code-wise in Textpad... It is a pretty powerful editor and can be configured to act like a pretty comprehensive IDE including compiling and looking up info on particular functions with the press of a button.

Lately though, I have been looking at Crimson which is also free. Might play with it more. Would be nice if there were more IDEs that integrated with CVS though and allowed code rollbacks.

I found Zend to be good in every aspect but one - it's incredibly slow. Just holding down a key will often create a good deal of lag in there. :-/

Other than that, I like it.

I agree it can be frustrating to use, but are there other dedicated PHP IDEs that include those tooltips/code popups?

    I like your directness, Wayne

    My tool set:
    • Homesite 5.5 (should never have upgraded from 5.2 though)
    • Tortoise CVS
    • Putty SSH
    • WinSCP
    • Adobe Photoshop
    • MS OneNote 2003
That gives me just about everything I need.
