I tend to stick with only what I need to get by with, which is just bare minimums (IMO):

    - EditPlus
    - Photoshop 7
    - Putty SSH
    - SSH/FTP Tool @ SSH.com*

    * It's free and allows web-based shell access (like that of FTP) and SSH in one, so you can switch from one to the other. I use putty when I can't be bothered to change the colors with the SSH tool .

    Edit Plus
    Putty
    SmartFTP
    Photoshop

Those are the ones I use for vbulletin at least.

If you're so interested for a php ide, try nusphere. It's not what I would use imho, but I do think of it as one of the best availible exclusively for php.

I've heard it is really good, I just haven't had time to check into it. Will do though.

Instead of JBuilder, check out IntelliJ IDEA. If you're not a professional Java programmer, it might be overkill, but it is by far the best IDE I have ever used for any language.

At last check they had a 30-day trial.

I had Allaire Homesite 4.5 before they got bought by Macromedia, and afterwards I got Dreamweaver MX ... primary reason I got Dreamweaver is because it has the familiar Homesite layout option courtesy of Homesite features being somewhat built into it

    • MS OneNote 2003
That gives me just about everything I need.
I didn't think anyone was going to mention Homesite I think HS5 has been rather bad overall sadly. Allaire did a better job. I was lucky enough to be part of the HS5 beta team but they didn't bother listening to our suggestions

    I mostly use:
    • Homesite 5.2
    • Photoshop
    • FlashFXP
