  • Shopping Cart Recommendation?

    I am in need to a shopping cart solution, but don't know which to pick from, so I would like to ask you guys for opinions on good software you've had experience in and would recommend. I've been fiddling with Miva Merchant and it looks to be pretty good.

    Basically I need a software that'll do real-time credit card processing. By the way, anyone here have experience getting a merchant account? Is that a simple process or a difficult one?

    Thanks in advance everyone!
    Well, there it is.

    Check out The Exchange Project. Great shopping cart software developed open source.

      You could check out - no idea how good it is. I just know the company as they sponsor one of the race teams which I do a website for.

        My two favorite shopping carts are:

        Shopsite ( Http:// ) ($495/$1195)

        SoftCart ( ) ($1500 -> $8K)

        As for merchant accounts, it was a simple process for me. I currently have a merchant account for both of my 'real' jobs - each from Key Bank ( ) - Awaiting another merchant account for dotBanner ( ). Each of them took about 1.5 weeks to get - from signing the paperwork till depositing the first credit card charge. Costs vary (our first one cost me $0.00, second one was $35, third one was $150), but I'd first go to your local bank(s) and talk to them about getting a merchant account before going with one of the 'Internet Credit Card Processors' that will 'guarantee' you a merchant account for only $500 or some other ridiculous amount. If you have a question or two, email me them and i'll try to answer them...
