  • Good O/S for a webserver (Other than RH)

I need some help decided which server o/s to use on my new server. Which software is very stable, and is supported by software like CPanel, Ensim, HSphere, Webmin etc.

Please give me your thoughts, plus the url to the o/s website.

FreeBSD is very stable under heavy traffic and the major sites like Yahoo/Hotmail use them.

I don't think Hotmails uses BSD anymore, not since they were bought out by M$. Though, I do think it took a while for them to migrate

Well you could consider Fedora (sp?)

              Its backed by Red Hat.

Windows 2003 is pretty damn stable - and considering MS sites run it (which i would have a guess at being high volume traffic) its not too shabby.

                        FreeBSD. /usr/ports are your friend.

Windows Server 2003 is definitely the way to go without doubt!

I switched couple of weeks ago from Red Hat 7.2 to Debian 3.0. Not a single problem so far.
