We are preparing these items for dispatch and can no longer change delivery or payment options for them.

What?

A month to a month and a half is not soon.

What is up with this order system?

I was prepared to pay more to get some items shipped sooner but it is not accepting it.

It is super saver shipping, not fast shipping. If you chose it at order, then you are pretty stuck. Did you purchase this off the main Amazon site or from the regional UK site which should ship from a closer warehouse?

It was the UK site.

Super Save Shipping is quoted as taking an extra 3 to 5 days, which I could live with.

I can't see why they have classed items that will take a month and a half as "dispatching Soon" and too late to change shipping options.

When I make an order at Amazon, I get asked if they can ship items separately if needed (or maybe it is in my profile). I have had that happen where an order comes in three different packages because of availability. Maybe something like this happened. You should be able to see if something is backordered by looking at the order details.

I am currently waiting for my "Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers" special edition DVD package and hope to get it before Thanksgiving (November 27th) but it doesn't get released until November 17th here.

Maybe if you call them, you can make changes that the website won't allow.

The one time I used the super saver shipping I got it faster than I usually got it when I paid for the shipping. heh

I live within the 2-Day Standard Delivery range of Amazon's Seattle Headquarters and usually get my stuff with super saver shipping within 4 days.

Likewise, the last thing I got off Amazon shipped from Delaware and I got it in a few days.

Update:

I just got an e-mail saying my order had shipped, so I checked out my account and, sure enough, the order status had changed from "Dispatching Soon" to "Items Dispatched"

Still, that delivery estimate looks a bit much.

Are you sure they shipped from the U.K.?

Amazon is going to send super saver items with the lowest cost shipper which is ground. If you have items that are coming from the U.S., this is by freight shipping by ocean liner.

Estimated delivery time: 1.5 months
Actual time: 3 days.

Not too bad.

LOL I was thinking that it would NOT ever take that estimated time. The person who made that page that gives that estimate had to be:

1. HIGH
2. A slow worker
3. HIGH
4. HIGH
