google adsense and vbulletin

Yeah, with version 3 it got introduced, I believe you run IPB, which introduced the same-like feature some time later (lo-fi)

echo print_archive_navigation($foruminfo, $threadinfo); 

below that, on a new line, add this code:

print "
<div class=\"smallfont\" align=\"center\"><br />
Your google adsense code here
</div>
"; 

Now replace the " in the google adsense code with \" (not from the above code, but from the google adsense code)

Example:

<script type=[b]"[/b]text/javascript[b]"[/b]><!--

becomes

<script type=[b]\"[/b]text/javascript[b]\"[/b]><!--

Save the .php file and upload it to your server.

I did not realize that I had to replace all of " with \" in the google adsense code.

Floris is it OK to change GOOGLE ADSENSE CODE? I thought it was not ok.

you aren't changing the google adsense code. From what I can tell, its being parsed properly.

I think the easiest way without changing anything at all is to put the code in a VBPHRASE.

Create a VB Phrase
Put the ADSENSE code in the phrase
Then call the PHRASE from the archive/index.php

I intalled it the code in the archive and everything looks the same. Don't the adsense ads suppose to show up? Or did I do something wrong?

Plus I have some mature sections of my message board. But I dont have the adsense code on those forums. Will the adsense crawler see these forums now. I don't want them too because they are kinda anal about mature content. (And no its not porn lol)

In a previous thread someone mentioned to put this code at the end of admin/sessions.php

But that was for vb2. Does vb3 need this, also? I am seeing way to many Bulletin Board ads.

Also, only registered users can actually read threads (via a hack), does this effect the googlebot?

Codes for v2 won't work in v3.

In v3 search engine bots won't use the session hash by default.

Ok, one more question - does anyone know what is the exact name of the google adsense spider? How I can add it to the who's online option inside the admin panel.
