I have the Microsoft Wireless Optical desktop myself, but will be buying a MX700 mouse soon.

If I were looking for a new keyboard/mouse set for my desktop computer I would definitely purchase this:

    Hence the "personally".
Just go with whatever suits your needs the best.
If you don't feel that a corded KBM will make you look a cheep*** then you can save yourself some cash. You may not think that cash is a problem but you can always plow back anything you save now into the next upgrade.
If you can afford wireless, have the desk space for the transceiver and wish to look uber cool while surfing the net and surfing the carpet on your wheely chair at the same time then go for it.

We can all give you our opinions but what really matters is what you will be happy living with.

By the way, you might not want cordless at all. Do you have room to put the signal receivers on your desk? If not, and you don't really need to be able to wander with your mouse, go with a corded one since they're usually cheaper.
