To put it simply, people are slow.

I hate it when people complain to the vB team actually, I mean they put what, hundreds of hours of work into vB3? And then people upgrade their live board to vB3 beta, and whine

    People are slow,

Not by any means, not JUST slow.

Then can be slow and daft, slow and mean, slow and dumb.

Quite a lot of combinations going I think

The more people you have testing a product the better the chances you'll have a thorough beta testing process and a quicker release of the final version.

You did no such thing. You purchased a license to use the current version of vBulletin - and as a bonus, we threw in the ability to upgrade to any versions we make available within a year. We are under no obligation to provide any upgrades within that year. You get the year period knowing that there may be 35 releases and there may be one - the same when you renew.
It's not my responsibility to beta-test their product, it's theirs to make a product that works for me. I'm paying for that, after all.
If no one volunteered to beta-test, the product wouldn't work for you. And again you aren't paying for continual releases, you are paying for the right to use the version available at the time of your purchase and any additional versions that we choose to make available.

Your right, it isn't your responsiblity. You don't have to beta test it. You choose whether you want to beta test it
