  • Other Bulletin Board

    A little question,

What other Bulletin Board is there besides vbulletin?

    Tx.

Here's about a hundred of them

Hot Scripts is the net's largest PHP, CGI, Perl, JavaScript and ASP script collection and resource web portal. We are an Internet directory that compiles and distributes Web programming-related resources, geared toward webmasters, developers and programmers looking for enhancing their Web sites and intranets with dynamic development tools.

Other ones worth looking at include Invision Power Board and PhpBB 2, both of which are free.

If I wasn't going to go with vB, I'd go with Invision. vB is worth its (low) price though, so don't rule it out.

            Hehe

I have used Invision Power Board and phpbb in the past.
If you cant afford vBulletin (Highly recommended ) then i would go for Invision Power Board over phpbb, as phpbb is short on features, like NO sub-forums (Very limiting) etc. Another one is iKonBoard... but i would give that a wide birth aye

Invision Board would be my clear 2nd choice. Not impressed with phpBB at all. vBulletin is worth the price easily in my opinion but iB is very new and will close the gap if they continue their progress.

                  Ikonboard is my second choice.

Ikonboard is too server intensive, and as such is banned by many ISPs. InvisionPowerBoard is second best forum board software out there (and vB is the best ).

yabb is also banned by many hosts because of its flat file system.

I will repeat this again: IKONBOARD is NOT flat file unless you choose to use a DBM database.

Ikonboard is very rugged, and is able to be installed and almost anything, including mySQL, Oracle, pgSQL, and when they come out with version 3.2, msSQL.

Nowadays Ikonboard can hold its own. It seems to have trouble rising above its version 2 past. But it's on 3.1.2 now!

If I remember I was talking about yabb, since when is yabb Ikonboard??

They are 2 different bulletin boards.

Unless you've quoted the wrong person.
