Methinks the server might need to be rebooted for the hell of it. Maybe MySQL is screwed up.

Considering this site is running on the same server with the same MySQL installation, not sure how that would help.

Whenever something goes wrong you just reboot the server for the fun of pressing the reboot button? Network issue really doesn't have a slightest thing in common with mysql.

I'm in Germany and access the web via the German university network ... no connection possible. PING won't even go one single step.
