  • Microsoft Movie Maker 2

Hey, I started fiddling around with Windows Movie Maker 2 a minute ago, and whenever I tried to add an effect, transition, or title to a movie clip, the program would just close without any warning. Does anyone have any idea as to what the problem could be? I've looked all over Microsoft's website for help, but I haven't found anything.

It might have something to do with the 'microsoft' part

Ehhrm, well, no I don't really know, have you tried re-installing it?

      Heh...

Yeah, I've already tried that and everything else I can think of, but it still doesn't work. Oh well, I just went and bought some cheap video editing software right now, but thanks for your help, anyway.

Uninstall DivX and it will work, you may need to manualy remove divx.dll from the system32 dir

Ah, yes, I remember reading something about Movie Maker not working with certain codecs, but I thought that it might have been referring to trying to edit movies that were encoded with those "certain codecs." But thanks, I just might give that a try.

Of course, the real way to go if you want to edit movies is with a Mac. No question about it. Macs are by far superior to PCs when it comes to digital video editing.

Heh, thanks guys, but I don't need anything fancy. I just wanted to mess around with the idea of creating a music video out of clips from Unreal Tournament. Thanks for the suggestions anyway, though.

macs are the worst when it comes to video editing in my opinion. they suck, too slow and can't do 90% of what pc's can do (ie have no trouble handling mpeg files)
