  • A Lunatic guest or what ?!!

    Look at the attachment...

That guest has been online at my forums for more than 10 hours in a row and he has tried everything..

    registering (never completed it)
    editing posts
    replying
    quoting
    reporting to mods
adding public events at the calendar
    ......
    etc

I even posted for him this at a topic he was looking :

Mate you have to REGISTER in order to reply to a topic !.

If you need any help contact me here :

    [email protected]

But of course he hasn't contacted me.

You can see at the screenshot how many times he is shown.
This could mean that he has many windows open... or that he is behind a proxy - I have heard proxies have these results to the who's online panel.

But is that guy crazy? I mean all the mods of my forums have been laughing with him all day... but this is really the most stupid guest/user I have ever seen....

    LOL

any comments? Cause I cannot find anything sensible at his (or her?) actions....

It's probably a search engine crawling your forums.

            Wow!
I had no idea that search engines had such mechanisms....!

What can a bad bot do (harmful) to the forums - that I should be aware of ?

All they do is visit everything, follow all links they can get hold of and, with luck, list you in some search engine.

The bad ones do indeed try to harvest your members' email addresses.

                  Ok, I see
                  Thanx.

What could I do to protect my members in such cases ?

Don't let them display their email addresses vB has a wrap-around layer where members can email each other without actually knowing their email addresses.

That IP address seems to originate from Greece, from this company (telecom/ISP or webhost perhaps?)

You mean to enable the "email forms" instead of having the actuall addresses displayed?

I hope you mean this, cause I have it already like that

Yes that company is owned by OTE, the Greek telephony company.

                            weird.
I hope they stop, cause it's already been 2+ days...
