A good chat room?

I'm on the look out a good chat room solution for my users to be able to chat during the Grand Prix at the weekend.

We always seem to have problems with some people not being able to access a chat room. Either the applet fails to load for them, or it won't log in, or their name gets rejected. 9 times out of 10 we end up all adding each other to an MSN coversation as there is always at least one person for who the chat room does not work.

Any idea of chat room solutions which will work with 100% of people ?

I've been on the hunt too recently... best free one I could find was http://freechat.raidersoft.com/ -although there are also upgrade paths.

I always liked the volano chat rooms as well, but they are prohibitively expensive for me...

www.digichat.com, a good one but not free. You can either buy the software and installed in your server or lease it on their server (which is I'm doing right now).

Add a shoutbox.

Mine has gotten over 7000 shouts, acts just like a chat room without really affecting normal posting

I personally am a fan of phpMyChat as well. Works nicely.

I prefer GlobalChat (http://www.globalchat.com)

It costs an arm and a leg but well worth it. But since I can't afford it, I'm using DigiChat (friend let me have a room)

Yup raidersoft makes a good one. There is a hack on vbulletin.org that integrates it into your board. I also have the shoutbox hack.
