    Question : What is globalization?
    Answer : Princess Diana's death

    Question : How come?

    Answer :

    An English princess with an
    Egyptian boyfriend crashes in a
    French tunnel, driving a
    German car with a
    Dutch engine, driven by a
    Belgian who was high on
    Scottish whiskey, followed closely by
    Italian Paparazzi, on
    Japanese motorcycles, treated by an
    American doctor, using
    Brazilian medicines!
And this is sent to you by a
    Canadian, using
Bill Gates' technology which he got from the
    Japanese.

And you are probably reading this on
one of the IBM clones that use
    Philippine-made chips, and
Korean made monitors, assembled by Bangladeshi
workers in a Singapore plant, transported by lorries
driven by Indians, hijacked by Indonesians and finally
sold to you by a Chinese!

    That's Globalization!!!

It is great to see how we can entertain ourselves with the deaths of many others .. shall we now start the 9/11 jokes ?

No, that was an American tragedy so it must not be joked. Ever. Or until the Communists are back in the game.

First off, I would go so far as to say it is a world tragedy.

And I suppose the death of Princess Diana was not a world tragedy too?

It's a crass joke, tasteless even if it's slightly clever in it's construction... But then I gotta ask, what's the real differance between Diana's death and jokes about any other famous person's demise? I've heard someone crack a joke about Elvis choking to death on a twinkie, and then turn around expressing great moral indignation at a Diana joke.

Could it be Diana's a sore point because her death was far more recent than Evlis' or Napolean's or any other typical person in a death joke? If so, what is the acceptable time to be able to express humor on a subject?

Life fact no.1) Everyone eventually is a hypocrite.

I explain many peoples actions with that, ofcourse at some point i will disagree with that statement.

It's because it's recent and everyone knows about how she died. You don't have to explain who she was, or who her boyfriend was, or what happened where -- everyone knows, so it makes a good platform for a joke.

I don't happen to think the joke is funny because I don't quite get "globalization!" as a punchline, but the concept wasn't lost on me. I think it's pretty interesting, actually -- that our nations are so intertwined.
