  • Selling my site

    Hi everyone,
I'm trying to sell my website and was wondering, do you guys have any experience in this area? And if so, do you have any advice/tips about selling? Also, what's the best way to approach companies that you think might be interested in purchasing?

First of all, how much are you "planning" on selling it. The price will vary on the domain name you have, how many hits your website generates a day & monthly. And of course, the point of the site.

I've sold a couple of my sites.

Only advice I have for you is, ask them how much they would buy it for. If you think it's too low, ask for more. Bargin...

      re: selling your site...

That is a pretty broad question.

If your site generates revenues, it will be worth something.

If it generates earnings (profits), it will be worth even more than that! Potentially much more!

But most sites don't generate revenues and even fewer generate profits!

I agree with Fred, too, that you are likely to be better off if you have a killer domain name associated with your site. Business.com, the domain name, sold for $8,000,000 (with no site behind it). Wallstreet.com sold for a few million, too. I have a friend that sold "rage.com" for almost $100,000. So a great domain can be gold if you've got one!

If your site doesn't generate money, what are you trying to sell? A community of users? Content? The bad news is that the content business is REALLLLLLLLY getting whaled on by the investor community. Even some of the best sites that produce content are likely to go out of business (running out of cash) or are going to be sold at a firesale price that is ridiculous and would be discouraging to you.

I'm not planning to sell it or anything,
but how much do you think http://www.automotiveforums.com would be worth?
I made around $50 with it the very 1st month. [BTW, the site is only 1 month old ]
Just give me a crazy estimate

So how did you get people into your forum. I`m starting a forum my self, but I have no idea of how to get someone to start a thread there :-)
