  • What is your favorite VB3 option or change?

I'm going to start a poll related to the options that are new in VB3.
    I personally like the most:
    Similar Threads
Really useful, IMO... I have it installed also onto my forums (VB2).

    UPDATE
Sorry, I did not include Admin Related options, because we don't really have access to them yet.
From what we see, the most pleasant options are Conditional Templates and Scheduled Tasks (vbCron).
Feel free to post your extra comments, as well to vote on the existing options.

Thank you for taking the time to vote and reveal your opinion related to VB3 options and improvements.

      Conditional templates.

      Side note: http://www.vbulletintemplates.com/mo...&threadid=2629

I think I like the back-end and admin-side features new to vB3 (not that I've seen them of course, just from what's been said) than any front-end stuff.

I think the conditional templates and vBCron are the things most people will appreciate (particularly those who like to hack.)

Cron is a service that execute commands at specific dates/times...

vBcron (really called 'Scheduled Tasks') is our way of building a crontab facility into vBulletin. It is the system that handles such things as deferred thread and attachment views, happy birthday emails, daily/weekly digests, user promotions, calendar event reminders, and activation reminder emails. You can easily write your own scripts, as they are rather small, then add entries for them in the scheduled tasks to run hourly, once a day, once a week, once a month. You can choose to keep logs of what the scripts did. It is rather robust and will be expanded to allow you to run scripts more than once an hour in the future.

I don't care about any of those things, and some *cough*threadedmode*cough* are worse than before

However, I like how you can see how many users are browsing a forum at once from indices, and I like how you can have better search options (like searching topics)

I voted for no redirects, but I think I voted too soon, without reading your post.

Excelent. Conditional templates, and the new admin cp is the best thing about vB3 IMO... Let's wait for those little features like Scheduled tasks, etc...

I don't like the quick reply thingee.

It makes no sense to me....I try to use the box at the bottom of the thread to reply in...and it won't take my text...I click on "reply" and it says I have to select a post to reply to....

Its confusing to me. Of course, I'm blonde But I have been around message boards and in particular VB for a number of years and I can imagine my members getting all bent out of shape about this "upgrade".

I LOVE the scheduled events (I already use Freddie's happy birthday cron and another cron I sent to members for another hacked calendar event. I also send a an email via cron to members once they have posted so many posts/replies and after they've been members for 30+ days.....)

                              I like the calendar views....

I will enjoy the new templates.

Lots of great things in the new version with my one exception that I think I need help with someone explaining it to me again.
