  • What are some other good free forums?

Hi. My moms website currently has these type of crappy forums. http://members.boardhost.com/boardhostsample/

I want to have fun Vbulletin type message boards with different sections. What are some free ones? Please help me out, link me,etc. THanks.

and BTW, is Vb 3.0 out yet?

Other relatively good boards that are free are:
    phpBB (http://www.phpbb.com)
    Invision Board (http://www.invisionboard.com)
YaBB (http://www.yabbforum.com I believe... some people like this, I don't know why)
    XMB (http://www.xmbforum.com)

You get what you pay for, however, and these boards are free, as vB is not.

Kinda funny to see someone ask for a competiting product on this forum

not just that, but the folks here will be honest- although somewhat biased

              XMB is http://www.xmbforum.com IIRC

Do remember that XMB is known for being a bit of a security risk however.

I'd recommend Invision for a free board

You can find leads for several different free boards at BBResource, a relatively new project.

I agree, I think it is currently one of the best vBulletin look&feel freeware versions out there.

                vBulletin is just better

The thread wouldn't be closed if you ask the question seriously and not to provoke some flaming etc. But you can't expect the vB lovers to reply that ; semi; competition is better, rofl.

Since vB is not freeware, asking it here is not really worth a shot, and I would normally reply: try google

If you want a free forum look at phpBB 2 and Invision Board. You won't find much better than those two in the free forum category. However, having said that I would totally recommend using vB instead and not going near any free forums

PHPBB sucks, IMO the admin panel is horible...

                    WBB is great ( http://woltlab.de ) also

                      Hi,

I would just like to disagree with this statement. Invision Power Board does not look or feel anything like vBulletin.

Both boards have their own style and design. I'm not really reminded of one in any way when I'm on the other.

Sure, the two may share a few fundamental similarities, but all forums do.

Ok, I'll shut up now and let this get back on topic

                      Peace!

this is not the best place to ask the question, it would be like going over to Microsoft and asking them what are some good free operating systems.
