Need Help!

I used to have windows installed to my I: drive (which is NTFS) but my C: screwed up, so I formatted it (FAT32). By doing this, I couldnt get into windows on I:, so I installed windows on C: and I want all my stuff back from my old account on I:, but, the old folder won't let me in.

Is there any way to get into my old folder?

what operating system? you need a NT operating system (NT4, 2000, XP) to see a NTFS partition.

If you have win9x or ME installed on the c drive, just put in the cdrom of 2000/xp and upgrade to it,
after installation you will see the old I drive.

Maybe it thinks you don't have the right, maybe because the dirs are set to a certain user. Right click / properties and archive,
goto dos (real dos) and check for hidden system information files and remove them (desktop.ini is a good killer too). It might help.

The archive thing didn't work so can you explain how to do the other way?

Maybe it holds a folder called System Information. (very hard to delete) ask microsoft support
through their web site you can ask 2 free support questions, then they cost 30$ each. So .. enjoy the first 2

Actually, you have to retake ownership. Even if the user names are exactly the same, their checksums are not so Windows sees them as different users. Since the new user doesn't have permission to view those older files, Windows won't let you.
