  • Help needed on image slicing...

    Hi,

My friend has been asked by his work to make a fairly complex website.

Basically, what he needs is an easy way of slicing up over 80 images into tiny parts (not sure dimensions) so that each one can be a hyperlink that when clicked, takes the user to a zoomed in area. Kinda like a map.

Is there any software out there that can do this ie automated?
    Or a script?

He has Photoshop 7, Fireworks (not sure if it is 4 or MX) and Paintshop Pro 7.

    Thanks

    James

If he has Photoshop tell him to use the accompanying software ImageReady. You can easily slice things up and do all kinds of neat things without getting sloppy.
    Well, there it is.

Fireworks (MX) slices images very well, and I do believe it will help with the HTML code for the map. I'm not sure what you mean zooming in when clicked on, though? And in what ay do you want it automated?

What about an image map? If he doesnt want to cut up that many pieces manually thats another option from the sound of it.

              Hi ya

ok... here's a little more detail.

He wants to take a directory full of jpgs.
He wants a program that you specify an entire directory to slice up, enter in the slice sizes (all the same size), then he clicks on GO. It then slices up all those images without user interaction.

              Ignore zoomy thing

I know they can slice images

Just need a way to do it as a batch job - like PSP's Batch Convert where u specify the source files, and it converts them from one format to another... but I need it for slicing loads of images.

                  Thanks

When you saying splicing a bunch of images, do you want them to all be spliced the same way (dimensions)?

P.S. Imageready can automatically generate html for you after splicing your images.
                    Well, there it is.
