        He didn't ask for all the search engines -- most of the ones posted now get their results from other engines. The correct *major* search engines are here: http://www.searchenginewatch.com/links/major.html

          Yahoo isn't a search engine, it's a web directory since sites are added manually instead of automatically.

            Correct. Neither is DMOZ.org or Zeal.com, but both are also valuable in getting more traffic. DMOZ.org gets you in many directories, including Google's. And Zeal is a community-driven site that can help you get in Looksmart and MSN, kind of a backdoor.
