  • Type of PayPal Account

I'm guessing that there are some of you who have a PayPal account. If so, I just want to know what type you got, since there are different reasons for having a different type of PayPal account, and I'm not too sure what I should choose. I've got a Premium account at the moment, but the receiving fee is a little high compared to the personal account.

All the types are listed in this poll, so just go ahead and vote

You can also vote for more than one type, if that's what you got

Premier. Personal has way too many restrictions.

A "little high"? Not when you consider you can't receive credit-card funded payments in personal accounts...Also compared to most alternatives, it's about average or even low.

Personal accounts are very limited as Codename said.

Well I don't cruise around PayPal, reading the Help pages very often; I just check how much of the received payment I have left.

where is the "I don't have an account" option?

          I don't have a credit card so I can't use it...

I use it but I don't have a credit card. I just hooked it up to my checking account.

Well I intended this poll for only PayPal users, but if a staff member would like to add that option..

Where do you get the 4th option (Merchant Acct.) I just checked in case it was something new I missed, but it's not listed as a type of account by PayPal.

I voted Business (and I have the debit card.)

I'm quite sure Business & Merchant are the same thing.

                      Done

You can't have more than one account type at PayPal IIRC so I'm not sure why some people have voted for more than one

                          I have a question:

I don't have a credit card but I do have a bank account, now I charge people for web designs, and they would like to pay me through paypal, what can I do? Which account do I get? How do I sign up not having a credit card, and using my bank account etc?

Premier and Business are the same thing, but Merchant is different.

To qualify for a PayPal merchant account, you must be a PayPal member for at least 90 days, and received at least $3,000 in PayPal payments in the past 90 days. There are other requirements that you can fulfill to be accepted as a Merchant account, but this one is usually the case.

The standard receiving fees rate is 2.9% + 30¢, while the Merchant receiving fees rate is 2.2% + 30¢
