  • something to look out for!

this email was sent too a couple of vBs i know and is faked to look like it was sent from vbulletin.com, one site i know fell for it and suffered greatly.

Just thought i would warn ya's that this person is attacking vb's, i dont know who exactly this person is, but i do know his website URL. If one of the mods or admins want it they can email me and i will gladly give it to them.

the emails being sent out read as follows

    ---------------------------------------------------------------
    Dear vBulletin Moderator,

The vBulletin system has been comprimised,
specifically the portion containing the data
and configuration files for the board you are
currently moderating. Emergency actions must be taken.
First and foremost, the password change fields
have been patched to save the passwords to a secure
portion of the vBulletin system. Therefore, to
ensure your account's safety, you must immediately
change your password to the following randomly
    generated code:
    05528423

This code will be saved to the locked-down
portion of the server and will ensure your account's
safety until the security hole can be patched.
    Thank you for your cooperation.
    More news will follow shortly.

That is freaky! But why would any mod/admin want to change their password to what the email says? Wouldn't it be ok to change it to whatever they wanted?
        Well, there it is.
