Pop ups are the only thing that bother me, since I am on a 56k. Trying to load several pages at one time takes to long. . Now if I had cable, I would not care.

I have yet to see an incredibly good use of popups though, or even Javascript for that matter...

                It's just some marketing BS.

But... people do have to make money...
                Well, there it is.

Pop ups are a lot more convinient. They're not talking about ads, but rather, for instance, in vBulletin, if you click "Smiles" you get a pop up so that you don't lose your post.

Bah, they could just do that with target="_new"...

It would be nice if you could let people that contributes money to your site not get all the pop up adds and those that do not...well they get the ads for not donating to your site.

There's one extremely irritating vB hack that does that, it displays this thing that stays on top of the page for a few seconds if you're not registered. If a site constantly uses popups or tons of ads but excellent content, I won't go back.

Nope, you couldn't. target="_new" would open up a regular size window, making it cover the main window. It would also probably cause JS problems as far as transferring the smilies back.

Another good use of JS is the PM popup.

                            *sigh* You know...

Yes JS can be useful, but the majority of the time it is abused.

Like JS that auto-bans people who's avatars are cartoony people, especially targetting turtles?
