  • Access logs

I have a host in Australia and they are telling me that the log files for my forum is 1.5 gigs every 10 days. They only give me 2 days of stats and delete the rest... which is really piss pore for a host, but it's fast and thats what my members want.

Does anyone know if a 1.5 gigs file for access.log is normal?

    How busy is your site?

For a very busy site I could see 1.5gb, maybe not in 3 days but in a month yeah...

Also the more images, the more access.log's size will skyrocket.

Our hoster (d)f: domainfactory) offers to compress and rotate the logs daily into a tar.gz file, they get really tiny...

Yup, I've seen 1gb log files compress down to 60mb

On average my forum does 15,000 page views a day.

Yep, your correct, I asked my host to try and find the deleted log files and send them to me in gzip format. It's 69MB.

            Thanks guys.
