  • Browser problems, HELP!

Ok, I haven't had a problem like this yet..

I don't know what the hell is going on with IE. It started when I tried to log in to deviantART. I entered my username and password, hit enter, and it just spewed me back to the front page... still logged out. Though when I hit random numbers and letters to fake an account and password it redirects me to a page that says "Wrong username / password". So I registered a new name there to test things out, did the exact same thing, can't log in through that either.

Every other site seems to let me log in, however it looks like it's deleting my cookies after I close the browser window. When I return I'm once again logged out.

Please help, I don't need this crap right now, I have jobs that need to get done. Thanks.

Try manually deleting your cookies. To do this in IE 6.0:

Tools -> Internet Options -> Temporary Internet Files -> Settings -> View Files

Then search for the individual cookies for your domain and delete them all. The name should be in the form of:

    Cookie:[email protected]
    and
    Cookie:[email protected]www.yoursite.com

...and any derivatives of the above. Then highlight the individual cookies and delete each one you find. After this, close all browser windows and restart IE.

Already tried that, amongst another dozen possible solutions. Nothing is working. I'm just going to backup and reinstall windows.

I don't believe this.. I just totally reinstalled Windows, with a clean install any everything, I'm still having the exact same problem. I'm out of ideas.

Sounds like a connection problem, or the slow loading, bloated devart? ehe

Yeah I'm pretty sure it's a connection problem. But what kind of a connection problem is faulty cookies?

No jake, actually the cause is not Windows! That was the first thing that supprised me. I've been hearing that other people have had the same problem, they all say to wait a day or two, some kind of connection problem.

*sigh* Can't log in to my favorite places, shoot me.

Do you have a firwall or any other software running that might be interefering with cookies?

Maybe it's a problem with the site itself?

That's what I was thinking too.

Did you really reinstall Windows because of this??

Either that, or it has something to do with IE's privacy settings...

                            Every site. vBulletin.com, Neowin.net, yaxay.com, etc..

You telling me all these sites have the same problem? No. It's something to do with my connection.

Yes, I tried everything and I could and I had jobs that needed to get done, I was assuming it was my system.

It may be your cookie settings.

Go to your IE settings, click the privacy tab, and try changing the settings to low ow none.
