  • GRRRR....who still opitmizes for 640 x 480?

    I just spent the last 4 hours at work re-opitmizing my optimized-for-600 x 800 designs down to 640 x 480.

HELL our WEB LOGS dont even show that people visit with that resolution anymore.....

damn coporprate people. they're all business and no concept of "getting with the time".
There are only 10 types of people in the world: Those who understand binary, and those who don't

I don't optimize my sites for 640X480, but I do for 80X600, its a neccesity. For corporate sites however, you have to. They need to appeal to all users, even AOL hell users running pentium 1's with mmx or something hehe

Me too I optimize for 600x800 (that's right Jake) and on up. This day and age, optimizing for the 480x640 () is just too painful. Besides, sites optimized for that kind of resolution look a bit stingy to me. But that's just my not so humble opinion.

                Oh no more bad spelling!

Have you guys tried viewing the web in 640x480 lately? That my friends, is what HELL feels like. Oh my god it's plain torture. Try it for an hour and see if you don't grow a few more wrinkles.

My dad uses 640x480 -- he doesn't like having smaller text/buttons on 800x600 (yes yes yes, don't bother telling me what I already know ).

My thoughts on 640x480 is if they get a horizontal scrollbar, tough. However, if I have a layout like this:

                  Code:
                  +-----+----------------------+
                  | S | |
                  | I | |
                  | D | |
                  | E | CONTENT |
                  | B | |
                  | A | |
                  | R | |
                  +-----+----------------------+
                  (ooh, ASCII art! )

If they scroll all the way to the right, I want them to be able to see the whole content box. Scrolling to read text is a pain.

                    No, I optimize for 800x600.

I've looked at my log files and around 1% of users on my site are at 640x480, so I see no point.

When I FIRST got on to the net, I ran 640x480 at 256 colors running at 50hz or so on a 15". Man...the horror.
