  • Sticky vs Announcement

When should you use a sticky and when should you use an announcement? Is announcement temporary? For example information about what you can or cannot post in a specific forum on your site, should that be in a sticky or an announcement?

Stickies can only be in one forum and are permanent (until you manually remove it); announcements can be in several forums at once and can have an expiration date. You may allow users to comment in a sticky (if it isn't closed); users may not comment on annoucnements.

If you have info about what can or cannot be posted in a specific forum, I'd make that a sticky.

Please don't PM or VM me for support - I only help out in the threads.

If I post CSS and you don't know where it goes, throw it into the additional.css template.

Sticky threads are used to announce something about that perticular forum in question. Announcements are used to announce something about the whole site, hence why they get displayed usually in all forums.
