I have never used IPB but I have never been a big fan of IPB, I prefer vBulletin.

IPB and vB look nothing a like.

IPS and Jelsoft are two different companies. IPS makes IPB (since 2002) and Jelsoft makes vB (since 2000). They might look similar and might ultimately accomplish the same goals, but they are different products.

Both are very good, though, and it's the competition between the two that has kept the products so good over the years.
