I cannot really point out any specifics, it just has this very basic look and feel, I guess its not necessarily "bad", but it does not look like an advancement in the board, it looks like a regression. I guess I don't really see the point in this drastic change of vB, I still run vB 3.6.x because I see no reason to upgrade, I was waiting to see how vB 4 changed and as of now I plan on staying on 3.6.x.http://www.ironmagazine.com - blog

Being a web developer, I am welcoming the upcoming changes in VB4. The change over to a completely CSS driven forum presents some powerful alternatives the templating system. Simplicity is not bad, and I am a firm believer that more people are proned to use a website that they understand.
Don't fix what isn't broken... I realize people want new features and what innovation... but aside from plug-ins and products, how much more can the core get? The dev team has overhauled the backend, most of the front end and while it doesn't seem like much, all these improvements are really significant. So in essence they took the good things they had and modernized it to today's web standards.
Sure there are things I'd like to see as a user, possibly chat features using XMPP (ie facebook or google wave), mobile features... so forth so forth, but I think these are things that can be addressed once the core is out and the main plug-in community gets a crack at it. Would it be nice to have it pre-packaged? Sure... but this is up to the dev team to decide.Lloyd

Keep in mind, vBulletin needs to have a somewhat basic look so that it's easy for people to modify. If it were graphics heavy, complex, or a totally unique style it would be hard, if not impossible, for the average person to customize to their liking.

What I don't like also is there is too many different colour schemes going on that (simply don't match) each other. You have a type of mink colour for post tcats, brown colour for smaller quick reply buttons, then blue for bigger buttons, then the quick reply box has a sky blue colour for tcat. It's all a bit of a miss mash of colours that don't work well together. There is no blending off bringing the whole theme together because of it.
Sofa's not colour blind is she?
Also, even though you have toned down the background colour from bright white. It IS still too bright and gives me headache after a while. The thread and page background colour needs to be dimmed further still. Or maybe just the PAGE background which still looks white in colour to me, and is causing to much screen brightness reflection as a whole.
I've also noticed the Report Post and Reputation icons needed some transparency adding to them - try these below. There not pixel perfect, as I edited them fast in 30 seconds, but they should look a hell of lot betterLast edited by MRGTB; Sat 14 Nov '09, 11:10am.

Do me a favour also, I've reduced the opacity from 100% to 75% of these 4 posts icons. Test them to see how they look and if they don't stand out as much and blend in better with the theme. I could reduce them further also. By reducing them it also fades out the shadow effect on the buttons which looks a little too dark right now as they are.

Here are the same buttons again with 70% opacity added to the blue ones, and 80% to grey ones, as the grey ones seemed to need less than the blue ones to match them both together better looking at the shadow outline. These are probably the better set to use than the above ones, if you do want to test themLast edited by MRGTB; Sat 14 Nov '09, 12:26pm.

Seriously, what are you talking about? Again it's completely different: layout, colors, functionality etc... So they have the main/global navigation now, like that is cloning other software? Real thing? Yeah right, a few years back vB introduced products and plugins, guess who copied it?
The truth is they are both constantly copying each other just like Microsoft & Apple, but eventually the customer will benefit from this.
Anyway..
I'd like to see a different skin, any different skin than this one, and hopefully my opinion will change on it.

These are better, a return to old skool buttons that tell you what they do, but with a web 2.0 look (whatever that is).
