iPhone 3GS AWESOMEEEEEEEEEE!!!!

Fantastic news!

Actually, I am really excited by this release. I understand that for current iPhone 3G owners it's not that big a deal. But when you are a new iPhone customer like me, the new stuff that is coming out this year is actually HUGE:

• I waited purchasing an iPhone 3G because of that fact that it had no car navigation software. Now finally TomTom steps up to the plate: http://iphone.tomtom.com/
  Amazing, I have been waiting for this a year now. This alone will let me buy the new iPhone 3GS.
• Another selling point for me is the improved Camera. I never have to carry my separate digital camera along with my iPod Nano anymore.
• The fantastic iPhone OS 3.0 with all the improved new features... really amazing .

This -for a new user- is really BIG. What an amazing combination of releases this is.

I am sold.

PS: after seeing Voice Control in action overhere I felt like David Hasselhoff talking to K.I.T.T. in Knight Rider...

To be honest, you're better off waiting until O2 lost their exclusivity of the iPhone.

I bet you apple has a tough time dealing with them. No MMS until late Summer, err what year is this?

Apple should have shipped the original iPhone with MMS. Its not like its a new technology. I have had MMS services through AT&T on my phone for years. My wife has it on her LG Shine through AT&T as well. Not really sure why there is a holdup with the iPhone. Sorry you have to wait for something we have enjoyed for the last 6 years. And yes, we can send videos to each other directly from our phones.

Should have been able to do this from the start with Google Maps. At least I have been able to do for the last 2 years on my Blackberry using Google Maps.

Although it doesn't 'give directions' in a normal SatNav manner, I've been using Google Maps on iPhone 3G here in the UK no problem. Don't see the need for anything more...

Really? It does on my Blackberry. I also have an application called Telenav that uses the same mapping system as TomTom. I don't like it as much though and it doesn't show traffic conditions like Google Maps does.

At least with the 1st gen to 3g upgrade, you could effectively restart your contract without having to pay it off. They really are kicking current customers in the teeth with this upgrade. I would say that iPhone customers are amongst the most loyal, and many people will have wanted to do this upgrade, but they are stuck with an 18 month contract.

Contract is 2 years, standard for any cellphone provider, in the U.S. Of course, AT&T will sell you an unsubsidized iPhone 3GS if you want to pay the extra $200 for it and not hurt your current contract. Of course that would put the regular 3g at $299 and the 32 GB 3GS at $499.

AT&T users will not receive MMS support until late summer, and the hardware revisions are hardly even worth noting. .

I don't think you will ever see AT&T allow MMS on its network, at its fullest potential...!

Every time they release I'm underwhelmed now, so much potential but it's all locked away so they can squeeze a few more releases out.

If it wasn't for skype dragging their feet with android I'd be there already I think, and I do prefer Java anyway.

Shows the route on a map Wayne and, if you use 'Location Services', you can follow where you are. However, you don't get the "In 500 yards, turn left..." stuff.

We recently did a small poll. While it seemed like many people were heading in the iPhone direction, I really got the feeling that the Blackberry users were more in love.

I am upgrading my 1st Gen to the new one when they come out. Don't make full use of my 8GB, so I think I will stick with the 16GB (of course I wonder how much space the video feature will eat up). I was told by my local AT&T store that any current iPhone owner can upgrade their iPhone at the new phone rate, only thing is that it restarts your contract at 2 years. There aren't any early termination fees and you only pay the $199 or $299 price.
Only major gripe I have is I really wish Apple would work something out with Adobe so Flash can be displayed on web pages through the phone.
