    My New Laptop!

I've been wanting a laptop for a long, long time. I could have gotten one a while ago, but I wanted to wait until I could afford a sweet-ass one. Well, I still can't - but my company is getting me one!

I ordered from Dell an Inspiron 2500, P3-900, 256MB RAM, 14.1" Display, Windows 2000 Pro (with free XP Pro Upgrade!), Internal NIC/Modem combo, DVD-ROM, and lots of other goodies .

Since I don't have to buy the laptop myself, what was I going to do with the funds I had saved for it? Wireless home network baby! I ordered the Linksys Wireless DSL/Cable Router and the Wireless PC card, so that I wouldn't have to run Cat5 all around my apartment .

My cellular phone provider (Sprint) also sells a product which allows you to easily connect a laptop to your cellphone for truly wireless mobile 'net access, though it will probably be at speeds upwards of 9BPS . But still, it's gonna be nice to have.

I just love toys, and now I'm gonna have a whole bunch of them to play with.

Congrats, Jim! I envy you. My laptop is Pentium 166 with 32 MB of RAM running Windows 95, which was my Dad's old work laptop before we moved. It let's me check e-mail and browse the web, but definitely nothing more.

I just got a new computer over the summer, but those laptops sure are cool! Have fun with that wireless network. I was in the market to buy one, but backed out because they are outrageously expensive!

if I can ever justify a laptop to my cheapass self, I'm thinking about a g4 iBook.

                    iBook uses a G3, f3wl!

the mac portables with G4 chips are the Powerbooks.

                    ...yeah, i want a G4 iBook too.

                      Laptops.... yum

Just got a Dell Inspiron 4000, 1ghz PIII, 256 of RAM, DVD-ROM and a 20 gig drive. Plus I got the super SXGA+ screen. 14.1 inches, 1400x1050 resolution. This, with Windows XP's new ClearType anti-aliasing makes the screen look super-crisp, almost like paper.

I put VMWare on as well so I have a Linux "server" running for doing demos.

I bought myself an Inspiron 8000 for X-mas last year. Sigh, it's only an 850 MHz. That was the fastest at the time. But, I do have a 15.1" SXGA+ with the 1400x1050. I also have the built in DVD with a CD-ROM burner for the second bay. Unfortunately, I have Windows ME. I must get XP ASAP. ME is atrocious. It may be the worst Windows ever. My new nickname is Reboot.
