  • Anyone else here suffer from...

    Hi,

My usual as come back, damn... Depression and Anxiety, Does anyone else suffer from these as I have had them on and off now for allmost 5 years and it's driving me crazy, It started at 30 and I'm allmost now 35.

Reason I'm asking is I was wondering if others have the same simptoms as me, I have these symptoms diarrhoea, Butterfly feelings in stomach or queasiness, rapid heartbeat or palpitations, shortness of breath, dizziness, insomnia, feeling worried or uneasy all the time, being irritable or quick to anger, an inability to concentrate, continuous low mood or sadness, feelings of hopelessness and helplessness, suicidal thoughts, feeling anxious or worried, disturbed sleep patterns, Loss of appetite.

    I think thats everything.

PS - I do take pills and see a counselor.

Do you work tomney, or are you spending all your days sat at the computer desk? Not mixing with other people. I think you first have to look at your life style in general to see if that might have anything to do with it first.

I did suffer from palpitations when I was about 19, a long time ago. I saw the doctor who said nothing was wrong with me and it was all in the mind. I could have taken drugs from him at the time, but decided not too after he said I would have to help myself really. Which in the end I did and overcame it. I think at that time it was the fear of death, and the fact something played on my mind which I was told at that time about a member of my family dying young from a heart attack in his 30's. And I should have my cholesterol levels checked. I did and all was fine, and that helped me overcome it from then on.

I think that brought it on for me then, without really seeing it happening at the time.

Sound to me like it could possibly be "serious stress" your suffering from. Your showing a lot of the classic signs for it.

Mood swings, suicidal thoughts, feeling anxious or worried, disturbed sleep patterns, Loss of appetite, depression

@MRGTB - He is referring to clinical depression... Some clinically depressed people can't even get out of bed. They cry for no reason, and have no energy, just as much energy as you would have with the flu. Its a horrible way to live. It is not due to laziness "They do not want to live this way"

It is "in theory" a misbalance or disruption in neurotransmitters mainly serotonin and dopamine, or their firing in brain neurons.

There is atypical and Reactive depression, which sounds like you're describing where someone is dwelling on something and hides and sits and cry's about a loss or because they where hurt..
"It is also called being in a rut"

There is also a switch between depression and mania, referred to as Bi-polar I or II disorder which is very misunderstood..

I know about Bi-polar Joe, I've personally always been prone to mood swings and bouts of depression for most of my life. But I'm not saying I suffer from it. But have researched it because I've wondered.

I only asked him to look at his lifestyle, because it can play a bit of a part. Especially if your not happy with your life as it stands in general. Or maybe something has recently happened in your life like a divorce or loss of job etc. Or as you said, being in RUT (which is the same thing).

Only ever mildly and a long time ago; though I do meet a fair few people who do as I'm counselor as well and will be off to do my masters in counseling psychology soon.

It is "in theory" a misbalance or disruption in neurotransmitters mainly serotonin and dopamine, or their firing in brain neurons.
In most cases, not one I'm a big supporter off as a lot of people perceive the symptoms are the root cause. Opposed to the symptoms as what they are, and once they get relief from them they don't look for the cause.

Thinking they are "well" stop the treatment, the root cause starts exhibiting symptoms again, and the cycle continues ....

It's a tricky, though possiable thing to deal with.

One of my neighbours when he was living next to me when I used to live in Wendouree had that.

I hope that you are feeling ok Dave. It's not that pleasent for you to experience Depression. Good to see that you are getting councelling for it.

I had to call an ambulance one day as my neighbour had an anxiety attack after throwing up his dinner.

Make sure whenever you are feeling depressed that you have a member of your family around at your place. I know it's a little hard sometimes but you have to talk it over with your family as well as your councellor

If you are feeling suicidal, go to the doctors or talk to someone you can trust.

Do not suffer in silence with that.

That this is not the place to do any real work regarding self awareness, or trying to help with this.

This is not a safe, suitable or a professional caring enviroment for this subject, I suggest talking to trained professionals in person.

I am a trained counsellor (and a mod on this forum ) so I have both interests in mind
