I actually read this as a joke on SitePoint Forums, and just got this e-mail from someone in the US.

I know this is not a funny subject, at all, but still, life must go on.

Proposed design for the new World Trade Center:
    Chen Avinadav
Better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to speak out and remove all doubt.

If some people are partying then this does not mean that ALL the people feel the same and the biggest example is when some Palestinians crowed in front of the U.S embassy and expressed their sadness for those innocents who died in those horrible attack on humanity.

Yeah well when's the last time you saw ANY Americans celebrating in the streets when Israel has bombed any of its neighbors? The answer....never.

          JB007,

You fail to get the real issue. It’s not how people feel about the attack, but rather the total lack of assistance by governments in bringing terrorist to justice. You are either demanding that your government helps solve the problem, or you are in fact part of the problem.

Demand that bin Laden be turned into a neutral power and that he gets a trial in the World Court. Negotiate until your comfortable with the terms.

I realize this may not be nearly as humorous as that last picture (I did find it amusing), but I was bored and sat down with photoshop for an hour and this is what I came up with. It conveys what I've been feeling over the past couple days. I dunno, just have a look if ya want.

Awww, screw it. I keep modifying it. I'll post it again once I'm 100% happy with it.

They're not happy because others died. They're happy because American people finally knew the meaning of terrorism and fear which they ( palastinain people ) live everyday since the invasion of their country in 1947. So this will lead u.s people to demand fair policy from their government to all other small nations in order to prevent such a tragedy from happing again.

All I can say is We're Coming.....
And we're going to kick some major ass when we do. I'm all for peace. But after this, I wish we would nuke the bastards when we find them. We as Americans have the right to "Pursue Peace, liberty and happiness." We have had this for years until now. Now the price must be paid for disrupting the American way.

What kind of terrorist idiot would be worth a couple billion and live in a friggin cave. Simple, One that has no happiness or peace and hasn't yet figured out that he can't buy it.

Big words from a country no bigger than the state I live in. This was nothing personal. This was just a vent of anger from some of the new pictures I viewed this morning. Women with blood covering them head to toe. Why you would insinuate that America is Rambo I don't know. But then again, It doesn't make any difference. When we strike, you will know it.

Since when is the size of a country directly linked to the intelligence of the people living in it? Anyway, I have/had no intention of saying America is Rambo, it was directed at your statement only. I understand the anger, frustration and sadness that is part of the current events but as I said before, it is a horrible way of finding out that you have been living on continent where war has not struck anymore for over 2 centuries while so many other parts of the world are on fire. I know America will strike, yet unknown where, when and how. As a citizin of this earth I do hope that we do not come to regret it....

I'm not really that surprised when the news said CNN was using old footage. I remembered during the riot in Indonesia, people took fetish pictures from porn sites and said that it's a raping scene happening there.

hey.. is this my first post here? hehe

Here is the most definitive statement to date about Flight 93 and why it did not strike a populated target. Those men are heroes. We all should stop and reflect on the fortitude it took to make the decisions they made.

                            Wash Post article

I hear too many almost 'casual' statements about what the US is going to do. My guess is that it is from people who have never faced the 'elephant'.

We do need to respond and respond with a focused and deliberate action. Rational discourse can only be held with a rational party. The actions of last week preclude rational discourse. But, let's not delude ourselves. To respond in any meaningful way that will have long-term effects will require 'up front and personal' action. It will be dirty, bloody, and we will have casualties. Everybody up for that? Who is queuing up to be at the 'tip of the spear'?

I too am enraged by last week, but we all need to mute the call for death and destruction and let the professional 'hunters' hunt. Everyone else need to begin the process of restoration and just as important, call for some accountability. Read this article that is prophetic in its warning:

                            Security Warning

Who will be held accountable for ignoring and neglecting the public trust? We must begin to demand some accountability from those who are responsible for the public. It is inconceivable that with the law enforcement/intelligence/security budgets of the various state and federal agencies, this could happen to the degree it did. There must be an accounting.

Just because I had a moment of anger that didn't display the intellectual content you thought should have been stated, you said what you did directed at me with your rambo statement.
I am educated as well and I haven't stated anything most Americans didn't feel at one time or another. You do have to remember that there were close to 6,000 Americans killed. Not a one of them had the opportunity to protect themselves. Maybe you should spend less time trying to be an intellect.

                              Web,

"I hear too many almost 'casual' statements about what the US is going to do. My guess is that it is from people who have never faced the 'elephant'."

Casual? Elephant?. Super, another intellectual post. My family are direct desendants of the Sewards. We came over on the Mayflower. And I'm not talking about a USS MayFlower either. Later we fought in wars I, II, Nam, and Korea. (wars I know we fought in.) Better yet, we all came back. My response to you is that if we hadn't a president with balls in WWII we might well still be fighting it. A descision was made to drop the bomb on Japan. Then they had another 24 hours to sign papers or we would drop the second. After the second, papers were signed and the war was over.

This ASS KICKING NON INTELLECTUAL WAR TACTICS (in the opinion of many at the time) was very controversial and many spoke the words casual and perhaps elephant at that time. Fact is we did the job and it was over.

"We do need to respond and respond with a focused and deliberate action. Rational discourse can only be held with a rational party. The actions of last week preclude rational discourse."

Hmmm, ok we will fight terrorism with what you just wrote. And of course we will lose like we did in Nam for fighting a half ass war thanks to polititions that couldn't get their head our of their ass.
You do not fight wars half way. You fight to win at any cost. This is what we learned in Nam.

"But, let's not delude ourselves. To respond in any meaningful way that will have long-term effects will require 'up front and personal' action. It will be dirty, bloody, and we will have casualties. Everybody up for that? Who is queuing up to be at the 'tip of the spear'?"

Yes, It's called war. And many will go and die. My family has been doing this for generations. Only difference is we came back. If called I would go shoot my riffle and kill as many of our enemies as I could so you can set on your computer and type about how you either dissaprove of the war, or how it should be fought. The US has protected this nation with the "Blood of the Americans" for generations. NOTHING else has kept this country free. Blood, sweat and tears, gave us what we have today. We took this county by force when we entered it, we protect it by force the same way.

"I too am enraged by last week, but we all need to mute the call for death and destruction and let the professional 'hunters' hunt. Everyone else need to begin the process of restoration and just as important, call for some accountability."

Mute the call for death and destruction? I can tell by your writing that you have no knowledge of war. War has been declared. The American Nation does not mute death and destruction and fights to the death for freedom. The professional hunters you talk about are a "Cloud of smoke called a dream." The professionals you speak of are the men and women presently in government. Our Intellegence (Professional Hunters) has shown what our professionals are worth in the government. They couldn't even catch people that had the mentallity of flying our own planes into our own buildings. This doesn't even account for the fact that the hijackers learned to fly in OUR FRIGGIN SCHOOLS. Intellegence=Professional Hunters=Americans get ready to fight. Oh just maybe we will send in a team and bring out Ladin. Big deal. He is just the start.

Somthing else I wanted to add. The men and women who stood for justice aboard the airliner that didn't make it to the target did what most fighting Americans would do. Nothing more, nothing less. I would have done the same thing without reservation. They were in a situation where they would die either way and chose to save American people on the ground. Are they Heros?

Of course they are. But no more than the hundreds of thousands that have fought for this country or the many police officers who lose their lives daily in action in this country. You do not have to die in war to be a hero and sometimes heros are made just by doing what they have to do.

I find it hard to believe that there "wouldn't" be an American that would have attacked the hijackers aboard that airliner. Makes me sick to think that there would be one single American man that wouldn't do what they did aboard that Aircraft knowing already what they knew.

War isn't fought by being nice. Let alone against terrorism.
Where are the warriors? Are we all politicians and intellects now?

"Who will be held accountable for ignoring and neglecting the public trust? We must begin to demand some accountability from those who are responsible for the public. It is inconceivable that with the law enforcement/intelligence/security budgets of the various state and federal agencies, this could happen to the degree it did. There must be an accounting."

Absolutely. No one wants to take the blame. They don't want fingers pointed. But flying our own planes into our own buildings using lessons in our own schools shows a lack of what you have stated.... enforcement/intelligence/security. And yes there must be an accounting. Let the finger pointing begin as soon as possible. Let's start by pointing the fingers at the administrations who have cut defense spending in the last ten years. That would be a real good start. Then we can point fingers at the individuals who did the dastardly deeds. Many including myself have been shaking our heads at the governments notion that we are at peace because a wall came down or for any reason for that matter. America should never cut defense spending but spend more daily on the protection and preservation of this country and its people.

Let's just hope this "war on terrorism" goes better than the "war on drugs." I mean, shouldn't the war on drugs be over by now? Maybe we should bomb the countries growing, producing, selling, importing drugs into America. Maybe we should exterminate the countries who harbor drugs being imported into the US. I mean face it, drugs have killed more Americans than any war we have fought. Over time of course. Fact is, the war on drugs is a political war. It wasn't meant to be won.

The US has taken it upon themselves to police the world instead of taking care of internal affairs. We give billions of dollars to other countries and cut the welfare and welbeing programs for our own people as well as our defense spending. We sell our weapons and planes to other countries that one day will be used on us.

I love this country, a long line of my family has fought for our freedom as we know it today. But our nations forefathers would role over in their graves at what this country has become in terms of the "Almighty Dollar". America was not always a "Capitolistic" country. We are now and Americans love the root of all evil. Capitolism has lead to many of our situations we have today. Why do you think the US is hated? Why was the WTC the target for the terrorists activity?

Many have stated simple things such as religion. Truthfully this is correct. In a very broad and raw statement it is correct. This country does not worship the God of our own bible. This country worships money and is always looking for more. Everything in our society depends apon it. Our Dollar says "In God We Trust". But in reallity it is in the Dollar that American people find their God's in. This is why the Americans are hated. We have a new generation of politicians. We have M Alb taking the commandments off the walls of the government buildings. We have the so called seperation of church and state that is truly unconstitutional. Then we get bombed and the president is shown in a church all day long simply because he called a day of prayer.

The US says true "Fox Hole" prayers when it comes to our government and religion. The Dollar is god until something bad happens, Then we need more religion and prayer in government.

Our founding forefathers stated that the United States should revere the "ten commandments." That religion was an essential part of our county. Our oldest church in the nation has the name of god in marble in the ceilings. I have seen it. I have been there.
And as I say, I lived to see the day that a WOMAN political leader (We'll call her Eve) in Washington took the laws of the creater off the walls of of our great nations buildings. I believe she is dead now. Maybe we could put the laws back on the walls of our government.

I still love America even though it is not the America of the past. It is not the America of our forefathers intentions by a long shot. And not the America that it should be. It has steadily been worse in this country every since the dollar became greater than morals.
So are we a truly free nation in 2001? Well, more free is what I would state. Example, Pay off your home. Decide not to pay the property taxes yearly for the rest of your life. I mean, your home is paid for right? Now see how long it takes for the government to take your home from you. I assure you they will.

Kids are raised without a mother at home because of the overwhelming demand for more money. Kids are killing kids in schools related at all?. Did you ever think you would see the day this would happen? Have we forgot the shock of demorilization in this country? Do we now have a new shock (Terrorrism) and cannot see that this nations problems cannot be solved with money?
Is the shock of several children shooting other children and teachers in schools a shock of the past? It will contiue to get worse in this county until money is not the biggest issue anymore.

Sorry for the pathetic spelling. I know there are many mistakes. But the points should be readable.

Update: The USS Roosevelt just left for the middle east.
"GOOD. I hope they didn't forget their nukes."

"Operation Infinite Justice"........ Just started. Not much on the name though.

There is fear in the eyes of the American politicians, fear that I've not seen since 1945...

The weather in Afghanistan tomorrow is expected to be sunny in the morning with increasing mushroom clouds in the afternoon. The temperature looks to be a moderate 2,000 degrees with cool winds upwards of around 700 miles per hour. It will definitely be a day for the sun block, and it wouldn't hurt to shake the dust off the ol' lead suit in the closet. If you're planning on venturing outside in beautiful Afghanistan tomorrow, don't forget to drink plenty of fluids such as barium which shows up nicely when blasts of radiation flow through your body. Most of all, have fun out there in dusty Afghanistan and enjoy the old country while........

                                Well, while it's still there.
