I think that's a rather brash statement to make about TP. One simply can't plan for every single possible scenario that something could go wrong in a datacenter.

Based from what I've read all over the place, an explosion happened. What exploded I'm not sure. But it's certainly one of those very very rare instances.

However the situation was bad enough that the fire marshall enacted protocols to shut down all power to that facility. That included all secondary power systems used to provide backup power the datacenter. Evidently the fire marshall assessed the situation and warranted that there will be no electricity in that building until certain criteria was met and that it was not safe to use secondary power.

If you want to blame anyone, blame the fire marshall. If he says no power to this building, his word goes and no power to the building, regardless of source.

You've got that right. I've never had a reboot where I didn't need to do repairs.

My server went down too, so I ordered up another server at their other data center. Now I have DNS propagation woes with some of my users being on crappy ISPs.

Want to give a step by step rundown on how to do this?

Best way after something like this?

Log into phpMyAdmin and click on your database if it is not selected. Then click "Select All". Then where it says "With Selected" choose "Repair Tables".

                [i] query ...

That is just a notice box saying : information > you run a query

if your page says it has completed, and doesn't have a red box saying : hell broke loose .. then you're good.

Please post in the correct forum for support, although you might want to contact TP's support to find out if there is anything that you need to know about your server coming back online and any essential maintenance that you might need to do.

After my site was up, I received the following msg twice:

cpsrvd failed @ Tue Jun 3 2008. A restart was attempted automagically.
                        What does it mean?

It sounds like Disney lingo for automatically.

                            Nothing to worry about apparently.
