Could this be made to display when members have a new PM or new activity on a thread they're subscribed to?

You can include your RSS feed in it and add in custom links. If you had a custom link that pulled the information on whether they had a new PM then you can probably work around it.

Both Microsoft and Mozilla have released toolkits to create your own toolbars with. Microsoft's requires knowledge of C++ or C# and Mozilla's requires knowledge of XUL (XML).

Excellent tip Wayne, I'm playing with it right now. The users of my site will love this (not the forum guys), thanks for this, I'm loving it!

edit: their system is a little slow tho

edit2: wow they use smf for forums

edit3: also, now that the 'charm' is wearing off, stealing the default search in IE isn't good game

Ah, I've played around with conduit before. It's cool. Hope they'll add FF3 compatibility soon.

They probably will after it gets out of beta.

I have it installed on two of my browsers and haven't had any complaints from AVG, Norton 360, Spybot Search & Destroy or Ad Aware.

Yeah they are just being paranoid. I liked this toolbar very much, the radio is very well made, as is the RSS reader, email notifier and weather forecast.

The only thing I didn't like is it trying to get the default IE search engine, I'm not sure if my common users will like that and know how to revert it.
