    vB Selling?

Is re-selling your vBulletin license allowed? If so, where is this done?

I recently (almost 2 months ago) purchased a 1-year vB license and the use of it is no longer needed, was curious if I was able to re-sell to someone that is in need, for a cheaper price.

NOTE: There are still over 2 weeks left to re-new for the full-time charge, instead of the individual annual bill.

You can sell your own license however you cannot sell a leased license.

There's also a 3 month period before you can transfer your license or something to that effect to prevent fraud. I am not sure if that three months begins again upon converting your leased license to owned but these are questions better addressed to [email protected]

So basically, there is no hope in selling this license if it is leased? So a waste of $85 and vB license that someone could find a use for?

Not a waste at all, you can use it for a new venture and anyone in need of a license is able to purchase it through the normal channels

If you don't have a use for the license, .. why buy it? We don't sell licenses with the intent of our customers reselling them. We don't have a reseller program, nor do we allow reselling. Incidental transfers between one party to another party is limited by the license agreement and has a few requirements. We point this out prior to purchase, and each time you download vBulletin. If you purchased the leased license with the means to resell it later then you could have asked prior to purchase what your options were. I am sorry if we don't allow selling of a leased license (since you can't renew it, etc) and if that caused an inconvenience to you.

We only allow (per request/review by customer/jelsoft) an active owned license that's older than 3 months, and has not been transferred in the last 12 months to be transferred to another party, if the customer is not breaking the license agreement (for example, multiple installs, etc).

perhaps 2guys could keep official control/ownership of the liscense, but just uninstall his board and allow the other person to use his liscense?

essentially, the important part would be that he would need to administer the info in his board info here on vbulletin.com right?

then he could add the user as an authorised admin (adding the person who will be using the new board's email address so that they can have access to vbulletin.com and .org etc)

then he wouldnt be selling the liscense itself, yet could in effect share the one that is still technically his own?

would that be an ok thing to do?

I dont have any desire to give up my own liscense so I dont really need to know, but at the same time I am curious as to if this would be ok to do...
