People adjusting temperature in house! Annoying

I can't stand when people in my house turn the temperature down to 67 Degrees in the middle of winter at night. I like to
keep it at a good 72-73 Degree's.


Anyone else have people who just flip the temperature?

Well, there's only one solution to your problem that comes to mind. And that would be to "kill them all and let God sort it out". I no longer have that problem.

I'm thinking about buying a device that locks the system and you have to have a key to adjust to temperature. I freeze every night and they love to keep it 67 Degrees at night in the winter time.

First of all, who owns the house or pays the rent, whatever the case may be? If it is all equally shared then the majority usually rules. I'm a firm believer that you can always put on more clothes and blankets to stay warmer as that is not the case in blistering summer heat.

I live alone and the heat in my apartment doesn't work if the temp drops to around 0. And guess what temp it was here most of last week. But it works great at 10 degrees Fahrenheit and above. Go figure.

I live with a 60 Year Old blind man who likes to complain about it being cold but leaves the thermostat at 65 Degrees.

Luckily I have so many electronics running in this room they all act as heaters.

I keep my door shut and let my desktop and laptop heat my room. It's always the warmest in the house, and I bet if I had a cat (RIP Snowball) they would choose to lounge about on top of my desktop.

I have a programable thermostat.

5:30-8:30 68 degrees (get up for work)
8:30-4:00 63 degrees (no one home except the dog)
4:00-11:30 68 degrees (evening time)
11:30-5:30 66 degrees (sleepy time)

When it gets real cold and windy we'll pop it up around 70 degrees.
Most people find they sleep better when it cool.

Haha 68 too cold? For a while I was actually opening my window in my room to cool it down. It was in the lower 40s to upper 30s at night back then.

Oh and throughout this winter it has been in the 40s to lower 50s as a high here and I haven't worn a coat once yet.

But anyway, either get more blankets or lock the thermostat up

Do you have a programmable thermostat? If it is programmed to have a lower temperature at night then it will change automatically unless you put it on the hold program.

Personally, I don't see the problem. 67 degrees isn't that cold, at least to me. I have mine go down to 58 degrees at bedtime and it goes to 68 degrees about 30 minutes before we get up in the morning so its nice and warm in the house. I'd set it lower but we don't heat the lizard and turtle enclosures at night and don't want to affect their body rhythms too much. Even then I don't think it has dropped below 60 degrees anyway at night.

I do know that if heater is on at night then I can't sleep. The bedrooms are upstairs and the thermostat is downstairs so it is always hotter upstairs. When my kids tell me they are cold at night, I give them an extra blanket and tell them to wear their flannel PJs.

An extra blanket is cheaper then the gas bill for the month.

It's kinda odd. Here in WI most people in summer try and cool the places down 65 or lower. But once winter hits, the thermos jack up to 70-75. Me? thats too hot.

When we bought our house last year we had the dial thermo, too hot, too cold. Then we bought the programmable. So happy. I found the temps I like. I'd lower the night time temps even more but the wife gets too cold. And telling her to get another blanket will only make me sleep on the couch.
