How to Encourage Activity...

Ok, so I have a forum of about 1800 members but only about 34 000 posts... Most members only join for the content and never post. Anyone have any good suggestions to encourage forum activity?

I'm hoping to do a whole renovation of the site when 3.7 is released. (new theme, competitions, etc etc).

Keep in mind that my members are game modders and range in age from 13 - 18.

Your stats arent really that bad. Mine are 650 members only 14,000 posts. So your doing pretty good, Just keep posting fun things for people two do, maybe some word games. And set up some contests, not for just money, but maybe special usergroups.

Posting contests of different types are a good draw. You'll need to be creative and use something that pertains to your audience of course.

Prizes can be cash or tangible items, also related to your site content.
