                As with all these online speed tests, they are not accurate. the file size is too small to test a full burst.

                I jump to 500kbyte/sec but can't climb, because it's already done downloading a second later.

                I usually go here (since it has a huge internet pipe, and isn't fully in use, and has 10/100 and 1gb flies to test with, plus it is in my country) http://ftp.snt.utwente.nl/pub/test/ this gives me 19,8mbit, 2,2mbyte/sec down.

                    When I do this with speedtest.net, my results are absolutely horrid. But then when I try it with speakeasy.net/speedtest, I get fairly good results, so I don't know.

                                That is interesting because speedtest.net doesn't host their own testing servers. Among the ones that they use are those provided by Speakeasy.
