Here's a interesting article about CAPTCHAs, beginning with Ticketmaster woes, and ending with a lineup of different CAPTCHAs with their cost to defeat them and their successful rate.

According to the article, Google, Yahoo, and Hotmail win, and I think Google's is easier on the user.

If you set ours up with white Background Images, it would be similar to Google's. I guess it shows that we're doing something right.

It would seem that Ticketmaster's problem is that they used the same background all the time. They just used varying scales. It would seem that it would be easy to filter out that kind of noise with an image editor. Without the background, the distortion is too easy to decipher so it can be done with OCR.
