  • Anyone know of software to allow users to have a webpage?

For ages I have been wanting to be able to give my users a free webpage on my domain, but didnt know how to go about it. Is there paid software you can buy to allow people to do this? Not necessarily part of VB...

Well there are some nice looking free mods over at vB.org You have to be very careful when allowing members to have their own homepage. You can't give them too much freedom else it can be a major security risk to your site!

On a side note, your forums look wonderfully simple and elegant. Good job!

Are you looking for something like
http://www.mysite.com/username ? I was actually looking for something like this too. Do you want users to FTP into the site, or edit from a wysiwyg (what you see is what you get, like Word or another text editor)?

Oh, also, once I read this, I knew you were Aussie! Haha

Good luck, and hopefully you don't get yourself up a gum tree ;D

If you find something good, let us know. When I get some free time I'll be looking for one myself, and will post back if I find one, as well.

Try http://mu.wordpress.org - The same thing as what's running on www.wordpress.com

Wordpress mu is cool, but you have to be a web developer to make any good use of it. vbBlogs is an easy way to do this isn't it?

                http://www.webdesignhq.com/features.php

SiteBuilder is pretty decent; allows users to make a flash site using a web interface. I bought an enterprise license for our site.

                    I suggest vbadvanced Dynamics http://www.vbadvanced.com/products.p...fo&productid=7

Its a huge program and the most versatile vbulletin add-on to date. It takes some hours to learn because of a huge amount of options and settings, but it is completely integrated into vbulletin, which makes it more easy to handle in the long run.
You can control which modules the users can have on their sites, and the users can turn them off or create their own modules. The users can also decide where on the page the modules are shown. In this way, the user home pages can look different.
If the users donīt want to mess with all this stuff, they can just use the basic structure for a homepage, as you have decided.
