        Installed Fedora Core 6 with minumum packages.

          Not sure if you use it to SSH into or not, but there's a nice little app called fail2ban (yum install fail2ban, I think, if you use yum). When you config it, you can have an ipaddress added to the deny.hosts if it unsuccessfully tries to log in after your set amount of times. I found out about it after I saw my box had gotten pelted 1800 times with login attempts after only being up a few days.

            Thank u. fail2ban is really a good log-based brute force blocker, i will install it, and use the iptables..
