  • So who bought an iPhone?! Or planning to?

I am just following some blogs right now, it was released 2 hours ago and already there is a frenzy of "first openings" on YouTube.

Anyone here lucky enough to get a hold of on? Is anyone planning to get a hold of one within the year?

I have been looking at it to upgrade my old Motorola. The choice is between the iPhone and Blackberry. Not in a rush and will see what happens over the next few months though. If I do buy one, it will be the second Apple product I have bought since 1995. Before that I was pretty much exclusively an Apple customer. The other is an iPod Nano that I got my daughter last Yule.

I would wait, the iPhone has some very obvious that absolutely need to be fixed by the second generation, such a user-replaceable battery, something even free, "throwaway" cell phones have.

"first openings" as in opening iPhone and showing its guts?

Nope. I'll stick to my Treo and get the new one that comes out next year

I have a BB 8700 that I am looking to replace. I might use it for a bit longer and see whats out in a bit.

I did not, it's not available in the NL, and it is expansive (especially service plans, since I will only be interested in wifi) And it's still first gen.

Hold on hold on hold on.... You got mac computers and all other things as apple.. yet you won't buy their phone if it was available in your area? wow.

That isn't surprising. Considering that it lacks basic features almost every 'cheap' mobile phone has and considering the price and some other things like the battery which must be replaced by Apple service, Floris isn't the only one who didn't buy one.

I bought a Nokia 6300 some days ago and I am happy with it. Maybe when the second gen iPhone comes out, I'll take a deeper look at it but when there's no price drop I highly doubt that I'll become an iPhone-Owner.
                      That's the end of that!

                          The battery isn't replaceable !?

No. After it goes bad you have to return it to Apple to get replaced.
