  • Why do you enjoy web developing?

I'm sure some of you guys really enjoy web developing so could you kindly explain what you like about doing so?

I really enjoy coding, fixing bugs, installing ect. I like to admin / mod forums as I can directly contact people (if you know what I mean ).

    What about yourself?

Yep, I'm always developing something .. I even now have a blog so people can find out what I'm developing at the time (its my company one but it contains all development I'm doing to that site)

If you want link to blog PM. otherwise wait until my next theme is released which will contain a link in the nav.

I develop stuff due to being bored.

I used to. But the PHP tools are so weak. I know of no CMS, shopping cart software, etc. which is built to the professional quality of vBulletin. And none of it talks to each other.

Even Joomla? Also only Microsoft products talk to each other.

I would suggest that you take a look at RoR. So promising IMHO.

RubyonRails language is so damn cryptic. Otherwise it seems like the right direction for PHP to take.

PHP is all about reinventing the wheel. There are no libraries out there that are really re-usable except the AJAX libraries like moo.

                  Yes, here's one reason why

After much intense calculation, it has been decided that your thread is already in the forum that you wish to move it to.

                  Deep Thought should be jealous.

I agree it took PHP too much to grow up, but now there are some mature frameworks out there. Symfony is so good that Yahoo! used it to build their Yahoo! Bookmarks from the ground up. Also Zend Framework has now reached RC1.

I wish it was easier and the standards were adopted faster. Too many hacks to keep things consistant. And I'm no good at web developing, all I do is play with the YUI.

I like seeing the end product.

I set myself to develop something, and I'm really happy to see it materialize.

I'm not sure if I enjoy the development process though

edit: are we talking about the same thing? I read the posts in this thread but they seem disconnected O_o
