  • Godaddy Domain Forwarding

    Hello
    Ok, I've tried contacting godaddy about this issue, but they send me a generic email about how to forward domains which doesnt solve my problems. Here is the deal:

    I'm trying to get my domain "http://www.example.com" to forward to "http://www.example.com/forums" and have it masked as "http://www.example.com".

    I entered all of this days ago on godaddy's site and it still brings up a page saying:

    'This page is coming soon
    If you are the owner of this web site you have not uploaded (or incorrectly uploaded) your web site. For information on uploading your web site using FTP client software or web design software, click here for FTP Upload Information.'

    What exactly am I doing wrong here? I'm confused since I followed the help guide on forwarding. Godaddy really lacks when it comes to helping people btw. Thanks to anyone who may be able to help me out. BTW, please use lamens terms. Kinda a noob at all this.

    Create a file called index.php, and save the following code.

    PHP Code:
    <?php
    header
    ("Location: http://www.example.com/forums");

    ?>
    Then upload it to where www.example.com is

      I purchased a GoDaddy VPS to check out their services a while back. Unfortunately, I wasn't impressed with their services and cancelled the purchase after three days because of their lack of support. I remember there being a place in their Simple Control panel where you can set this up.

      Login. Select Hosting from the Navbar. Then click on "My Accounts". Finally "Open" your domain name and there should be an icon for domain forwarding.

          Use this code instead of the code given above so that search engines will read the move as permanent and you will preserve your search engine clout.

          PHP Code:
          <?
          header
          ('HTTP/1.1 301 Moved Permanently');
          header('Location: http://example.com/forums');
          header('Connection: close');
          ?>
