  • Where do you store your forum attachments?

    Hey,

    vBulletin allows you to choose where to store the forum attachments, either in the database itself or into the file system.

    Which do you use and why?

    In the file system so it dont make the datebase real big and a pain to backup.

                In the file system outside the webroot so they aren't accessible except through vBulletin.

                  Once we hit 500mb .sql dump we will be moving the attachments to this scenario too. Right now we don't have the time and resources to set it up properly and update our backup scripts. Hopefully this summer!

                        DB, Backup doesn't worry me as my server auto backs up everything, it would take just as long as it would in file system .

                              Create a folder above of public_html that is CHMOD 777. Then go to your AdminCP and enter the path under Attachments -> Attachment Storage Type.
