How do i protect my domain/forum name?

I purchased several web domains and im setting up vbulletin forums on them.

How do i protect ownership of these business names?

I looked into trademarking the names, but an attorney wanted $750 plus registration fee's per each domain name.

If i own BUSINESS_NAME.com would this prevent someone from starting BUSINESS_NAME or buying BUSINESS_NAME.net or org or us or tv etc?

Any feedback appreciated!

NO. Registering an internet site domain name ($9.99 USD) is different than registering a business name.

or buying BUSINESS_NAME.net or org or us or tv etc?

NO. Just register them all yourself. It's $10/year to register (aka PARK) a domain name.

Go to namecheap.com and sign up for an account.

And simply get all the .com / .net / .org / .info / .tv / .etc

And put a domain LOCK on the domains, and make sure the domains are in your company name, your name, and address, and on an email address that you will always have access too. Perhaps invest some money into the namecheap.com funds and turn on auto renew for the domains.

This is an affordable step to start with.
